We would like to inform foreign clients that Japan Patent Office (JPO) announced that official fees for trademark registrations and renewals will increase as from April 1, 2022.
Please note that the official fee for filing applications for trademark registration will remain unchanged.
It should be noted that the revised (increased) official fees shall be applied according to the date of payment of registration fees or renewal fees.
Where the registration/renewal fees are paid by March 31, 2022, the current fees shall be applied.
However, if the same is paid on or after April 1, 2022, the revised fees must be paid, except the case that a first installment of registration or renewal has already been paid under the current fees and a second installment thereof is paid on or after the date.
